What We Do
Project Dignity of WNC was formed as a 501(c)(3) in January of 2017 in Henderson and Buncombe County. Our mission is to provide period products to women and girls who are homeless, low-income, or victims of domestic abuse.
We solicit donations of period products and financial support from community organizations, individuals, and churches, and provide product drop off locations. These products are distributed to schools, public housing offices, food pantries, and social service agencies on a regular monthly schedule. Our operations teams communicate frequently with our “customers” to ensure we are meeting the needs of the women and girls we serve.
Our Future
We will expand our focus to more women’s shelters and food pantries. We originally started with limited ability to reach everyone in need. We may also provide panties to the schools crisis closets on a test basis. We know there is a need for girls to have access to panties when they start their period at school and don’t have any backup clothing supplies.
